Legislator Steven J. Flotteron recognized Preston Caruso, a sixth grader from West Islip for his ongoing community service in helping sick children at Catholic Health Good Samaritan Hospital. Preston wanted to pay it forward and help children who are sick during the holidays. He knows all too well what it is like to be ill and miss out on being able to do what healthy children can do.
Preston put together goody bags of crafts he purchased with savings from chores he did. He started his project for Valentine’s Day 2019 and then Covid hit. He then made cards for patients at Our Lady of Consolation and had a snack collection for two Police Precincts in NYC. He was thrilled to be able to drop off his donation this year and bring a smile to the faces of children for the holiday.
