More than 450 students have new backpacks to return to school in September and community members received food donations thanks to North Babylon School District’s partnerships with local organizations. Backpacks and food items were given out on Aug. 21 at North Babylon High School.
North Babylon School District partnered with Island Harvest, News12/Optimum, and other local organizations to organize the distribution of the backpacks. Thanks to the support of Island Harvest, there was also a food distribution for families. North Babylon School District’s students, staff and members of the National Honor Society volunteered for the event and handed out food and other items.
Neighbors Supporting Neighbors, Hope for Youth and Pams and Jams DJ were also on hand for the event. Ben and Jerry’s representatives were scooping free ice cream for attendees and Three Jays Express Cutz mobile barber shop was giving students back-to-school haircuts.
