The sun was certainly shining bright as students and staff at West Islip School District were welcomed back to school for the start of the new year on Sept. 6.
Staff, administrators and board of education members were positioned at all the school buildings to make sure each student had a warm welcome as they started their first day of school.
Smiling faces entered each of the elementary school buildings with the backpacks all filled to the brim with school supplies. Eager learners were excited to explore their new classrooms and connect with their classmates. The district’s youngest learners met with their teachers and explored their new classrooms and buildings prior to the start of the school year.
The incoming sixth grade and ninth grade students also familiarized themselves with their buildings, lockers and schedules during their respective orientations before the first official day of school.
