The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced today that SUNY Cobleskill sophomore Logan Hutter, Smithtown, N.Y., Smithtown West High School, has been named the league’s Baseball Player-of-the-Week for the week ending April 23, 2023.
The catcher/third baseman helped lead Cobleskill to five wins in six games over NAC opponents as the Fighting Tigers opened the week by sweeping the visiting Wildcats of Cazenovia College on Tuesday by scores of 6-5 and 8-7 then traveled to Canton, N.Y. over the weekend to take two-of-three games from the host Kangaroos of SUNY Canton winning a solo game on Friday afternoon 3-1 then splitting a pair of games on Saturday taking the opener by a 21-2 margin before dropping the series finale by an 11-8 margin to improve to 17-12 including a 12-1 record in NAC action to claim their third consecutive NAC Western Division Championship.
The Smithtown, N.Y. native batted .600 on the week going 9-for-15 with a .647 on-base percentage including two doubles, two home runs, a stolen base, eight runs scored and seven runs batted in.
On the season in 28 games, Hutter has batted .385 going 35-for-91 on the year with 11 doubles, five home runs, three stolen bases, 29 runs scored, 33 runs batted in while posting an on-base percentage of .482 on the year.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday April 25 when they host the Pioneers of Utica College for a non-league contest at Fighting Tiger Field with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
