Molloy University Hosts 5th Annual Unity Through Diversity Event

Molloy University will be hosting The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy’s 5th Annual Unity Through Diversity: Celebrating All Abilities in the Arts on Friday, April 26 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Madison Theatre at Molloy University, located at 1000 Hempstead Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

“We always look forward to this event! Not only is it the 5th Annual Unity through Diversity, but it marks over 20 years of servicing the community at The Rebecca Center at Molloy University,” said Diana N. Abourafeh, MS, MT-BC, Board Certified Music Therapist for The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy. The event continues to grow and be a platform for the neurodivergent community as we feature neurodivergent-run businesses and vendors, artists, and performers, and hosts.”

Created by The Rebecca Center for Music Therapy, Unity Through Diversity is a monumental evening featuring artists of all abilities and backgrounds expressing themselves via music, dance, poetry, self-advocacy storytelling and visual artistry.

With nearly 300 people in attendance each year, the proceeds will benefit the Rebecca Center Client Scholarship Fund, a fund which provides scholarships to clients in need to support access to music therapy services at The Center.

Some of the performances include:

  • Sir Duke by Stevie Wonder as the concert opener that in all performers of the evening from the Molloy University MOST Program, Rebecca Center for Music Therapy participants, and Bach to Rock via the Nicholas Center. Special features in this number are Jim Lentini, President of Molloy University and Donald “DJ” Mitchell, Jr., Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Come Together by The Beatles performed by Chris Troiano, an attendee of the Rebecca Center for Music Therapy for more than 20 years and is a consistent featured performer on the Unity Through Diversity concert.
  • We Will Rock You by Queen performed by Molloy University’s MOST Program for its second year feature. MOST is a two-year program that provides individuals with developmental disabilities, aged 21-27, opportunities to identify and develop the social and academic skills required to successfully transition into a meaningful and engaged adult life while participating in a fully inclusive college experience.

This event is open to the public. Advanced tickets are available online for $15 through March 31 (Use code “AdvTix24” when selecting tickets). Tickets will then be $20 by April 22nd (no tickets can be purchased online anymore at this point) and are $25 at the Door.
