Anthony Boyle showed his classmates his video trailer about legendary basketball player Shaquille O’Neal.

Students explored green-screen technology as they made trailer videos about the famous people they researched. They edited in WeVideo, adding background photos, graphics and music.

Victoria Saporita used green-screen technology to make her video about Milton Hershey.

Teacher Susan Murphy said that students could pick any famous figure from the past or present who made an important contribution to society. They had to use at least one book and one online source to learn about their subjects, which included athletes, authors, entertainers and entrepreneurs. The reports had to include information about the person’s early life, accomplishments and challenges faced. Each student also made a timeline using Google Slides.

“The students got a lot out of it,” Ms. Murphy said. “They were very interested in their people.”

Students were assisted by technology learning coach Jennifer Emberley and computer teaching assistant Colleen Hadsall to make their videos.
