Longwood Junior High School Robotics Team Wins Project Innovative Solution Award at SBPLI

On Saturday, January 11, the Longwood Junior High School Robotics Team captured the “Project Innovative Solution Award” at the SBPLI FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition ensuring their participation at the 2020 SBPLI Championship at Longwood High School on March 1, 2020.

Using this year’s theme, “City Shaper,” teams challenged urban planning and architecture to improve quality of life. Projects were judged in three areas: Innovation Project, Robot Design, and Core Values, which exemplify characteristics of teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Under the direction of advisors Victoria Holborow and Alyssa Pascual and using personal experience, the students created an application to improve the efficiency of emergency procedures, including locking doors, closing blinds, disseminating bilingual automated messages, and using colored lights to signify specific scenarios.

Congratulations to Team 2180 members Camila Aranda, Jason Beauford, Hayden Carmichael, Maurice Dent, Layla Fugarova, Rishi Ghatta, Zion Houlas, Maya Ortiz, Delon Persaud, Dylan Sullivan, and manager Emily Eckert.
