John Kilpatrick, Liberty’s Director Of Engineering, Elected Chairman Of Long Island Water Conference

The Long Island Water Conference (LIWC) has elected John Kilpatrick of Liberty New York Water to serve as the organization’s new chairman for 2023. With over 20 years of experience in the water utility industry, Kilpatrick currently serves as the Director of Engineering at Liberty. He looks forward to leading Long Island’s water providers in supplying Long Island residents and communities with the best services possible while ushering the water industry towards a successful and sustainable future.

“I am incredibly honored to have been selected by my peers to lead the Long Island Water Conference this year,” said LIWC Chairman John Kilpatrick. “The dedicated water providers of our organization remain committed to delivering the highest quality water to our residents and maintaining the security of this precious natural resource.”

John Kilpatrick began at American Water in 2006 as a senior engineer with significant experience in designing, planning and delivering water utility infrastructure projects. In 2010, he became Engineering Manager of the Central Division, before being named Director of Engineering for New York American Water in 2014. He has been on the LIWC Board of Directors since 2020, serving as Vice Chairman in 2022, 2nd Vice Chairman in 2021 and Secretary in 2020. Kilpatrick received both his B.S. in Environmental Engineering and MBA in Engineering Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

In addition to Chairman Kilpatrick’s election, three other members were elected to the LIWC’s Board of Directors. Jason Belle, Superintendent at the West Hempstead Water District, was named Vice Chairman. Robert McEvoy, Commissioner of the Oyster Bay Water District, was named 2nd Vice Chairman. Lastly, Brendan J. Warner, Director of Construction-Maintenance at the Suffolk County Water Authority, was named Secretary.
