Accompanied by District Administrator for Athletics, Physical Education, Health and Recreation Dominick Fontana and physical education teacher Brian Tower, four Deer Park High School students – seniors Samuel Adolphe and Kayley Eising, and juniors Joel Nash and Katia Papailler – recently participated in a student-athlete leadership conference at Center Moriches High School. Over 300 student-athletes from 57 high schools were represented at the event.

The conference focused on a number of topics including leadership in sports, the dangers of social media, student-athlete mental health and college expectations, and featured guest speakers such as former Major League Baseball player Frank Catalanotto, MLB sports agent Mark Leinweaver and numerous college athletes from Long Island. The
conference also provided valuable opportunities for Deer Park’s student leaders to interact with their peers and build their individual leadership skills.

“The goal here was to help our student-athletes build their leadership skills and become future leaders,” Tower said.
