High School Heroes Visit Deauville Gardens East

Students from Mrs. Gurtner’s leadership class at Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School visited and taught classes to students at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School on June 5. The high school students participated in the High School Heroes program in partnership with Junior Achievement, a nonprofit focused on enhancing financial literacy for all grade levels. The high school students became teachers for a day in the third and fourth grade classrooms, where they taught lessons and played games aimed at teaching the younger students about saving, earning and spending responsibly.
