FourLeaf Turkey Drive Set For November 20th

More Than 54,000 Long Island Children and Nearly 53,000 Older Adults and Seniors
Estimated to Be Food Insecure

With an estimated 250,000 Long Islanders struggling to put food on the table, FourLeaf Federal Credit Union announced that its 18th annual FourLeaf Turkey Drive to benefit Island Harvest Food Bank will take place on Friday, November 20, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM at FourLeaf’s headquarters, 899 South Oyster Bay Road in Bethpage.
Since its launch in 2008, the FourLeaf Turkey Drive has become Long Island’s largest one-day food drive, collecting more than 55,000 turkeys and 280,000 pounds of food for Island Harvest. All donations help supply Thanksgiving meals and food assistance to Long Islanders in need through Island Harvest’s network of food pantries, soup kitchens and other hunger-relief programs across Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The need remains significant across Long Island this year. Island Harvest estimates that approximately 250,000 Long Islanders are food insecure, including 54,130 children – approximately one in 11 children – and an estimated 52,750 older adults and seniors.
Food insecurity extends across age groups and communities and is often driven by difficult household choices. Families and older adults struggling to afford food may also be balancing housing, utilities, transportation, healthcare, and other essential expenses. Feeding America’s latest Map the Meal Gap research reinforces the breadth of the challenge: food insecurity exists in every county in the United States, and nearly half of food-insecure Americans have incomes above the threshold to qualify for SNAP benefits.
“Hunger can affect anyone: a child going to school without enough to eat, a working family struggling to keep up with the cost of groceries, or a senior balancing food and other necessities,” said Linda Armyn, President and CEO of FourLeaf Federal Credit Union. “Every year, Long Islanders show how deeply they care about their neighbors by donating to the FourLeaf Turkey Drive. With an estimated quarter million people on Long Island facing food insecurity, we hope our members, local businesses, schools and families will once again come together to help make sure our neighbors can share a Thanksgiving meal with the people they love.”
The economic pressures facing food-insecure households continue to evolve. New federal SNAP work requirements took effect in New York in 2026 for certain adults receiving food assistance, potentially affecting thousands of New Yorkers. At the same time, Island Harvest reports that families seeking food assistance continue to contend with high grocery bills and the difficult choice of stretching limited household budgets across food, rent, utilities, transportation, medical expenses, and other necessities.
“Long Islanders facing food insecurity and economic challenges benefit greatly from FourLeaf Federal Credit Union’s support of Island Harvest Food Bank as we address hunger in our communities,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest. “FourLeaf’s leadership and ongoing commitment have made a real difference for many Long Islanders, as evidenced by their long-standing support of our efforts to provide essential food and innovative programs that tackle the root cause of hunger and food insecurity. We are grateful to FourLeaf’s dedicated staff for their commitment to the annual turkey drive, which has allowed thousands of Long Islanders to celebrate a holiday meal as a result of their generous partnership.”
Last year’s FourLeaf Turkey Drive collected 4,767 frozen turkeys, 23,162 pounds of food, and $117,244 in donations. The FourLeaf Turkey Drive offers residents the convenience of drive-through donation lanes, where volunteers remove frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items, and monetary contributions directly from vehicles. Non-perishable foods most needed include canned goods, cereal, pasta, rice, boxed juices, and shelf-stable milk. No glass containers will be accepted.
For those unable to attend in person, online donations can be made to support Island Harvest, and donations can also be made at FourLeaf branches.
Community involvement is at the heart of the FourLeaf Turkey Drive, with local youth also encouraged to participate. Girl Scouts who donate will receive a special commemorative patch, and troop leaders may collect donations on behalf of their members.
To bring even more turkeys to the table, FourLeaf is also continuing its tradition of bringing together local businesses and organizations for its Corporate Challenge. The company that donates the most frozen turkeys wins a visit from an ice cream truck. For more information and to sign up, visit fourleaffcu.com.
FourLeaf Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in New York State and one of the largest in the nation, remains committed to supporting the communities it serves through its charitable giving program by investing in local initiatives that help build stronger, healthier communities.
