On Monday morning, October 26th, Suffolk County Legislator RJ Renna and County Executive Ed Romaine joined Ronald McDonald House Long Island to celebrate a major construction milestone for Suffolk County’s First Ronald McDonald House.
Upon completion, the 30-bedroom facility will give families of seriously ill and injured children a place to stay close to their child’s care.
Following a brief ceremony, Legislator Renna and other guests had the opportunity to sign a steel beam that will become part of the building, which will be located near Health Sciences Drive at the SUNY Stony Brook campus.
After signing the beam and inscribing the initials of his late sister, Christina, Legislator Renna said: “The Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful organization that I share a deep personal connection with – as my sister Christina stayed in a Ronald McDonald House while she was undergoing treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering in the city.
I was honored to be included in today’s festivities and am excited to continue to support the Ronald McDonald House – especially at home here in Suffolk County – and I look forward to a grand opening next year!
