Connetquot High School Science Research Team members Gabrielle DeCapua, Declan Doran, Michael Fabbri and Michael Ibraham were named second-place winners of the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision National Science Competition. The team will travel to Washington, D.C. in June to attend ExploraVision Awards Weekend.
In April 2023, representatives from the science competition officially recognized the team as regional award winners for their project, “Isolating and Producing Targeted Bacteriophages for the Eradication of African River Blindness.” The research submission was one of only 24 national regional winners out of more than 2,000 submissions.
The Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision National Science Competition is largest science competition designed to build problem-solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills that are central to Next Generation Science Standards.
The district congratulates the students and faculty adviser John Halloran on this outstanding accomplishment.
