The Port Jefferson School District’s Board of Education honored one of its talented
fine arts students, whose work was featured on the cover of the 2022-2023 school
calendar.

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School sophomore Lucy Kwon was lauded at the Sept. 13
meeting by District Director of Music and Fine Arts Dr. Michael Caravello for sharing her
beautiful work with the school community. Dr. Caravello also thanked high school art
teacher Ms. Nancy Randazzo for her expertise and artistic guidance through the years.

Dr. Caravello mentioned Lucy’s dedication in honing her artistic skill, including
attending intensive art workshops each Saturday morning. “Although she enjoys all artistic
mediums, Lucy is most passionate about digital art. When Ms. Randazzo shared Lucy’s
digital depiction of our own Port Jeff harbor, we immediately knew it was the perfect
choice for this year’s calendar,” he said.

Lucy was presented with a framed copy of her artwork and she and Ms. Randazzo
were each gifted with certificates of recognition.
