Bayport-Blue Point High School held the annual Phantom Challenge on March 8.

Buddying Bayport-Blue Point entrepreneurs developed and then pitched their ideas and inventions to a panel of judges during the annual Phantom Challenge, held on March 8. The event is structured much like the popular show “Shark Tank” where participants must create a concept paper and presentation explaining how their idea/business plan would impact today’s society.
H20NMI was the winning Phantom Challenge team with Aaron M. and Chris V.
The contest was judged by Steve Thomas of the Vinny Perri Foundation, Nature Shapes owner Michael Becker, Pure Barre owner Sara Kuhar and Bango Bowls founder Ryan Thorman.
The Comforto, pitched by Zoey B. and Lily M., was the second-place winner of the Phantom Challenge.
H20NMI was the winning Phantom Challenge team. Aaron M. and Chris V. pitched a smart water bottle that removes toxins and tracks a person’s daily consumption of water. The Comforto, pitched by Zoey B. and Lily M., was the second-place winner with the idea of a blanket that uses Nitinol to expand and shrink into convenient sizes. Third-place winner Hot Box, pitched by Chris F. and Robert A., was a disposable lunch box that keeps food warm for hours at a time.

Honorable Mentions were presented to The Geese Gurus – Emilio D. and Chase L.; Clean Cuts – Casey H. and Matt L.; Seapal – Matt B. and Finn C.; and Decision Die – Francesco S.
The event was sponsored by Vinnie Perry Memorial Scholarship and the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce.
