31st Annual Katz Institute Luncheon And Fashion Event Raises $900K To Advance Women’s Health Initiatives

Northwell Health and the Americana Manhasset raised more than $900,000 for women’s health at the 31st annual Katz Institute for Women’s Health Luncheon and Fashion Event, held on September 28 at Old Westbury Gardens.

More than 600 supporters attended the event, which was presented by the Partners Council for Women’s Health and hosted by Rebecca Haarlow, television broadcaster for the New York Knicks, public speaking coach and a member of the Katz Institute Advisory Council. The day featured lunch under the tent by Lawrence Scott Events and a runway fashion show by Lafayette 148 New York by creative director Emily Smith. Iris and Saul Katz, the benefactors of Northwell’s Katz Institute for Women’s Health, served as lead sponsors. To date, the Katz Institute Luncheon and Fashion Event has raised nearly $13 million for women’s health programming and research across the regions that Northwell serves.

This year’s honorees included Dayle Katz and Ruth Slade, who for more than 20 years have co-chaired the Partners Council for Women’s Health, which was founded in 1992 to support Northwell’s vision for a better model of care for women’s unique health needs. Lyle Leipziger, MD, FACS, chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, was also honored for more than 25 years of excellence as one of New York’s leading plastic surgeons and a highly-sought expert in his field.

“We want to thank our three honorees this year for their dedication and tireless efforts as advocates for women’s health,” said Stacey E. Rosen, MD, senior vice president for women’s health at the Katz Institute for Women’s Health, Partners Council Professor of Women’s Health and professor of cardiology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. “The Katz Institute for Women’s Health has been on a revolutionary journey with the support of our donors, clinicians and the community to transform women’s care at Northwell and improve the health of women through the span of their lives.”

The Katz Institute for Women’s Health was created in 2008, thanks to the vision and generosity of Iris and Saul Katz, and provides an innovative, integrated approach to women’s health and wellness. Supporters of the Katz Institute and the annual luncheon and fashion event advance Northwell’s Outpacing the Impossible campaign and become champions for women.
