Sixth graders at West Babylon Junior High School in Ms. Tomeo and Ms. Alfano’s art class are hard at work in their lessons this May. In Ms. Tomeo’s class, students are completing their zentangle line design artwork for their elements of art unit. Students in Ms. Alfano’s Art class are working on their “What is Art” unit watercolor projects. Students researched the meaning of art and are expressing their thoughts on what art is through visual communication. Students selected a layout design that demonstrated their understanding of the meaning of art, while incorporating repetition. Students worked on their final drafts using pencil and visual reference to lightly draw their chosen layout on their watercolor paper.
