West Islip School District welcomed back its students for the start of the 2022-2023 school year on Aug. 30. Administrators, board of education members and staff were all smiles as they greeted students as they entered their respective buildings.
With their backpacks filled to the brim, the kindergarteners made their way into their classroom thanks to the guidance and fun-loving nature of the teachers and support staff, who helped them ease into their new environments. Older elementary students waved their goodbyes as they reconnected with friends and teachers to kick off the new school year.
Newcomers to the West Islip High School, Udall Road Middle School and Beach Street Middle School all took the time to get acquainted with their new buildings, teachers and classmates as well. As the day went on, students eased into their new schedules and routines and settled in for a productive year ahead.
