Islip’s annual Apple Festival took place with beautiful autumn weather. This year’s festival brought the community together for another successful celebration of one of the Town’s longest-running traditions. Voted #1 Festival on Long Island by Best of LI, this year’s event was filled with fall festivities, live entertainment, local vendors, and family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo and baking competition; the festival had a record number of visitors.
This year’s Public Scarecrow Contest also saw an impressive turnout, with creative entries on display for everyone to enjoy! First place was awarded to Patty Walsh for “Dolly,” followed by Megan Arango in second place for “Dungeon Crawler Carl” and Margaret Petersen in third place for “Cornelius Stalkman.” Honorable mentions went to Esther Peters for “Myrtle” and Henry and Sam Damon for “Bob Ross.”
The festival also marked the highly anticipated return of the Culinary Competition for the first time since 2019. The competition received 34 submissions across adult and youth categories, marking its return as a festival favorite!
“The Apple Festival has been a cherished Town tradition for 46 years, and it is wonderful to see so many residents and families come together to celebrate the season,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “On behalf of the Town Board, I want to thank our Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, and Public Safety, along with the many vendors, participants, and volunteers who helped make this year’s festival such a success.”
With record attendance of nearly 40,000 people, enthusiastic participation, and the return of a longtime festival favorite, the 46th Annual Apple Festival was a memorable celebration of community and fall traditions in the Town of Islip.
