Two Harborfields High School student-athletes, Kaitlynn Carrion and Kaitlyn Costa, recently placed first and third, respectively, in the Long Island Girls Wrestling Championships in Rocky Point. In the 145-pound category, Carrion pinned Perla Rivera of Central Islip in 4:50, while Costa beat Tamia McKay of Walt Whitman by forfeit in the 152-pound category.
Earlier this season, at the Steven Mally Memorial Girls Division at Harborfields on Jan. 21, Carrion took first and Costa second, with Carrion named Most Outstanding Wrestler. At the Queen of the Mat competition at Copiague on Dec. 3, Carrion finished in first place and Costa in third.
“It has been an incredible season for our girls and we are so proud of them,” Athletic Director Rob Franco said. “Great job, ladies!”
