Oyster Bay Town Supervisor and his colleagues on the Town Board recently honored Jesse Findling, of Massapequa Park, for his extraordinary feat of reaching the top 12 in the most recent season of American Idol. Jesse earned his spot on the legendary show after singing “In the Stars” by Benson Boone, receiving a standing ovation from judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan. During his audition, Jesse shared his personal experience of growing up with a stutter and how singing offered him a way to express himself freely, beginning with karaoke at home and continuing through school choirs and performances.
Supervisor Saladino stated, “Jesse has made our community incredibly proud, showing the talent, determination, and heart that define a true Hometown American Idol. By overcoming his obstacles and achieving at the highest levels, Jesse has inspired a generation of people to persevere through the challenges of life and pursue their dreams.”
Jesse is currently a student at Binghamton University, majoring in biology with a minor in musical theater.
