Islip High School freshman Melanie Marroquin and sophomore Luna Mendoza recently won honorable mention designations in the 2022 Artistic Discovery competition, sponsored by the Congressional Institute. Each spring since 1982, this high school visual art competition has served to recognize and encourage artistic talent across the nation and in each congressional district.
Islip students recently raised $967 by participating in the American Legion Virtual Walk-A-Thon for veterans. The donations will help fund veterans’ organizations, including homeless service dog outreach.
