Angie Carpenter, Islip Town Supervisor invited Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney, along with ADAs and Detectives from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Financial Crimes Bureau and the Suffolk County PD Financial Crimes Unit to the Joyce Fitzpatrick Senior Center in East Islip, for a seminar on how to prevent identity theft.
Participants learned valuable information on “what identity theft is; what can be done with one’s identity; how does it happen; can we help prevent it and what can I do if it happens to me.”
The District Attorney’s Office will be presenting this program at various Town of Islip Senior Centers in the coming months. Check back for future dates at a Senior Center in your community. If you believe you have fallen victim to identity theft, please call the SCDA Financial Crimes Bureau at 631-853-5602 or the Suffolk County Police Department Financial Crimes Unit at 631-852-6821.
