Suffolk County Community College announced that its Cybersecurity program has collaborated with Red Hat Academy, an open source, web-deployed and web-managed education program designed to provide turnkey curriculum materials to academic institutions to start and sustain an open source and Linux curriculum program.
“Our goal is to prepare our graduates to be work-ready,” said Suffolk County Community College President Dr. Edward Bonahue. “Building courses to match the expectations of our local employers, updating them as technology evolves, and supporting student training with hands-on labs ensures that our graduates can hit the ground running when they’re hired.”
“The addition of the Red Hat Academy to the Cybersecurity program further strengthens the connections of the Cybersecurity program to technology leading organizations. Our work with Red Hat Academy can expand and provide students with a well-rounded experience and access to industry-leading technologies that prepares them to both enter in the workforce as well as earn a professional certification that demonstrates industry required skills,” said Jon Sadowski, specialist – Cybersecurity in Suffolk’s Department of Engineering and Industrial Technology.
“We’re pleased to have Suffolk County Community College join us in this growing Red Hat Academy Program,” said Ken Goetz, vice president, Global Training and Certification, Red Hat. “To help students learn about Red Hat technologies and solutions and establish in-demand open source skills, we work closely with a variety of educational institutions. We look forward to continued collaboration with Suffolk as an important member of Red Hat’s training and certification ecosystem.”
Red Hat Academy turns academic institutions into centers for enterprise-ready talent by outfitting them with Red Hat Training and provides a curriculum to help institutions keep pace with industry demands.
