Stony Brook University Hospital Accepting i-Pad Donations For Telehealth Distancing Measures

Members of the community have been reaching out and asking how they can help the healthcare professionals and those afflicted with COVID-19 pandemic. One very important way: we need an influx of iPads to keep our inpatients connected to their providers and their families.

Anyone who has an iPad that is not being used, please consider donating to Stony Brook University Hospital. We will repurpose the donated device to provide telecommunication for our patients to connect with our medical staff. We are looking for about one hundred devices of a supported iPad model.

Before donation, the device should be cleaned, reset (click here for instructions), and placed in a zip lock bag if possible with a viable power chord. It takes a team effort to convert these devices into a secure patient friendly solution.  We will do our best to make your gift count and give someone comfort during these remarkable times.

The donations of medical supplies and comfort care items such as gum, lip balm, tissues and snacks have been pouring in and we appreciate the community’s response. We’ve also received many video messages of support and are sharing those throughout the hospital. Please keep them coming!

In order to maintain social distancing and safety, appointments are being scheduled for donation drop off. Please contact: Joan Dickinson, Stony Brook University Community Relations Director, at COVID19donations@stonybrook.edu or call 631.219.0603 to schedule an appointment.
