Second graders in Ms. Kelly’s class at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District are showing off their green thumbs as they grow plants from just bulbs. One bulb was placed in water so students could observe the root system. The other bulb was planted in soil. They learned that both bulbs need water and sunlight to grow. During the last three weeks, the students have observed the leaves and stems growing toward the sunlight coming in from the window.
