The Stony Brook School’s Middle School Robotics Team competed in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League Qualifier on Feb. 1. This competition, held annually, challenges students to research issues such as energy efficiency and recycling and then develop a solution and present it to the community.
Additionally, teams of students are required to design, build, and program a robot using LEGOs to compete against other teams from across Long Island. At the qualifier, Team 11362 (the “Urban Ursulas”) won the Core Values Gracious Professionalism Award, and Team 11363 (the “HydroBears)” won the Alliance Award, Robot Design Programming Award, and will be moving on to the Championship round at Longwood High School on March 1.
