The W.T. Clarke High School Rams Marching Band in East Meadow took a trip to Washington, D.C. this past weekend, April 9-10, to perform in the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.
The Rams joined 10 other high school bands from across the country as the parade featured floats, civic groups, dance troupes, equestrian groups, as well as musical groups from the branches of the Armed Forces. The students had a fabulous time performing for an energetic crowd on a beautiful sunny morning. In addition, they performed a concert at the Navy Memorial. Many parents travelled into town to watch the performances and cheer on their children. The group of almost 80 students spent time touring the National Monuments, the Smithsonian Museum of American History, attending a Mets vs. Nationals baseball game and having some fun at Six Flags America before returning home.
The students represented the school and community with professionalism and resilience when faced with the brisk and blustery early April weather during their outdoor performances. The East Meadow School District commends this group of students for their efforts and character during the course of this trip.
