PSEG Foundation Provides $100,000 To Island Harvest, A Key PSEG Long Island Partner, As Part Of Community Relief Initiative

The PSEG Foundation, committed to building thriving communities, this week announced $1.5 million in grants to more than 25 community organizations in New Jersey and on Long Island that provide critical assistance to households facing economic hardship — including $100,000 for Island Harvest, a longtime community partner of PSEG Long Island.

The Community Relief Initiative reflects the PSEG Foundation’s ongoing dedication to affordability and community well-being, and in many cases reinforces the volunteer efforts of employees at PSEG Long Island and PSE&G in New Jersey. The one-year PSEG Foundation initiative aims to provide critical support through a multifaceted approach. This investment aims to strengthen the capacity of nonprofits and ensure the continuity of essential services, providing food banks with the support they need during these challenging times. This initiative also aims to advance the long-term impact of these organizations at both the state and community levels.

“PSEG Long Island is proud to have partnered with Island Harvest for years to collect, sort, and distribute meals to our neighbors suffering from food insecurity — one of many key partnerships that reflect our commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said David Lyons, interim president and COO of PSEG Long Island. “We have seen firsthand the good work Island Harvest has done, and we are thrilled that the PSEG Foundation is ensuring that even more good can be done through this $100,000 grant.”

“At PSEG Long Island and the PSEG Foundation, we believe true community support goes beyond providing safe and reliable energy — it’s about building strong partnerships with organizations that understand local needs,” said Calvin Ledford Jr., president, PSEG Foundation and director of Corporate Social Responsibility at PSEG. “During times of economic challenges and hardship, these collaborations allow us to deliver meaningful solutions that directly benefit families. We are deeply grateful for each of our partners, and for the impact these initiatives will have in helping local communities access the critical resources needed to stay safe, healthy, and secure.”

Together, these organizations provide critical services ranging from housing to food assistance – the core areas where the community struggles the most. Partnering with long-standing nonprofit organizations, the PSEG Foundation will help ensure that relief reaches families most impacted by rising costs and economic challenges.

“On behalf of the 240,000 people we serve who face food insecurity and uncertainty of when their next meal will come, we are incredibly grateful to direct the PSEG Foundation grant to our Hunger Relief Action Fund,” said Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of Island Harvest Food Bank. “The strong, long-term partnership we have with PSEG Long Island and the PSEG Foundation continues to make a positive impact on the lives of Long Islanders. PSEG’s commitment to improving the quality of life and providing critical resources for our neighbors in need, especially during these difficult times, is truly commendable and heartwarming.”

Power to Feed Long Island

PSEG Long Island maintains strong partnerships with local organizations from the Rockaways to Montauk to ensure resources reach the communities that rely on them. Working with Island Harvest and Stop & Shop, PSEG Long Island’s annual Power to Feed Long Island summer food drives have collected nearly 153,000 meals over the past five years, including more than 14,000 pounds of food in 2025 alone.

Connecting customers with financial assistance

When state heating assistance programs were delayed due to the federal government shutdown, PSEG Long Island held three community events designed to help connect customers with financial assistance from various resources. The events helped more than 400 customers, enrolling many of them in PSEG Long Island’s Household Assistance Program, which can provide a discount of up to $78 per month for income-eligible households. Customers can apply for the Household Assistance Program online here. More information is available at psegliny.com/assistance. Supporting veterans

Working in cooperation with nonprofit groups and county government, PSEG Long Island volunteers greeted veterans and distributed fresh produce, clothing, bedding, and other items at Veterans Stand Down events in both Suffolk and Nassau counties and at a new Veterans Warm Up event in Hicksville. More than 1,000 veterans have visited these events so far this year.

Senior Connections

PSEG Long Island is focused on ensuring every neighbor can benefit from new tools and protections. The company’s new Senior Connections program brought subject-matter experts directly to libraries, YMCAs, community centers, and 55+ communities across Long Island and the Rockaways, covering storm preparation, scam prevention, electric safety, energy efficiency, and available financial assistance.
