Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, Inc. (www.pal-o-mine.org, Islandia, NY), a private, not for profit organization providing a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, has launched a new program for children ages 2-5 years. The Barnyard Buddies Program is a hands-on learning program which involves Pal-O-Mine’s therapy animals. It is facilitated by experienced and licensed educational and healthcare professionals who will use an experiential approach to learning. Its unique, age-appropriate curriculum includes social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and imaginative concepts and activities such as expressive art projects. Additionally, it incorporates focused exposure to pre-reading/reading, mathematics, and problem-solving skills. Children enjoy learning in Pal-O-Mine’s naturalistic learning environment full of positive support. Children of all levels of abilities are welcome.
The Barnyard Buddies program consists of four sessions held once a week on Tuesday mornings at Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, 829 Old Nichols Road, Islandia, NY. Session dates are April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th and May 17th. Each session is 90-minutes long and begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. Sessions are limited to a maximum of ten children. One parent or caregiver must accompany each child. The fee for the four-week program is $150 per child and must be paid in full prior to the first session. Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted and there is a 3.25% processing fee on credit card transactions.
