The P.J. Gelinas Junior High School Science Olympiad team took first place at the state tournament held in Syracuse on April 14. This qualifies the team to compete in the national tournament next month.
At the state tournament, the team won medals in several events including first-place medals in the Bridge, Dynamic Planet and Meteorology categories.
“These students amaze me every day with their hard work and dedication to Science Olympiad,” said Gelinas Science Olympiad coach Nicolette DeMartino. “I could not be prouder to be their coach and am looking forward to seeing them continue to excel as we head to the National Competition.”
The 2023 National Tournament takes place at Wichita State University in Kansas from May 19-20 and represents the highest level of science competition for middle and high schools across the nation.
