“I’m really looking forward to meeting the Lockhart students, teachers, staff and parents, and building strong relationships,” Mr. DeLuca said. “I know the unity that exists in this town and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the Massapequa family.”
Mr. Gelardi was assistant principal of Kings Park High School for the past three years, where the coordinated the Advanced Placement program and supervised several departments, including social studies. At Hempstead High School, he was a social studies teacher for nine years, including three as an instructional coach. His career as a social studies educator began in 2005 in New York City, where he taught seventh and eighth grade U.S. history.

He has a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from SUNY Purchase and masters’ degree in adolescent education and school building leadership from Mercy College.
“I’m excited to come to Massapequa where there is a strong commitment to education,” he said. “I’m hoping to continue the tradition of excellence in the social studies department, and will do so with energy and a sense of collaboration.”
