Students have recently been learning how to round two and three-digit numbers to the nearest 10 or 100. They are exploring different methods for rounding, such as the number line technique. After identifying the halfway point between two round numbers, students determine if their number rounds higher or lower.

Joseph Adona came up with his own three-digit number, then had to round it.

They also have many hands-on tools at their disposal. Their SmartPAL dry erase surfaces allow them to draw out their number lines, while the one, 10 and 100 counter blocks represent numbers in a very visual way.
