On Sept. 18, West Islip Union Free School District’s central office administrators and Board of Education members attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Masera Middle School operated by Eastern Suffolk BOCES. The partnership between West Islip Union Free School District and Eastern Suffolk BOCES allowed BOCES to renovate the space to accommodate their student body. The middle school opened in early September and currently houses 123 students. Attendees toured the building and saw the updated classrooms and facilities.
