The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation – Long Island Region’s deadline to purchase summer dashboard permits is March 31, 2021. The next opportunity to purchase a permit will be the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Applications will only be accepted through March 31st via online submission through DocuSign until 7:00PM EST or Drop-box at a designated State Park Office (see below listing and call park directly for office hours) until close of business on March 31st. There are no in-person sales. All permits will be mailed to the applicant once processed.
There will be no extension to this deadline and applications that are not received prior to the March 31st deadline must wait until the Tuesday after Labor Day to apply for the 2021 Dashboard application.
Purchase online through DocuSign: visit the Long Island Region webpage at parks.ny.gov for a link to the DocuSign Application. A valid email is required, and credit card is required for payment (Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, Debit Card). Applications will be processed in the order received until 7:00PM EST on March 31st and permit(s) will be mailed to the applicant once processed.
Drop-Box – drop-off a completed application with payment (check, money order, or credit card authorization) to a State Park Drop-Box Location. Applications will be processed in the order received and permit(s) will be mailed to the applicant once processed. A fillable PDF is available on the Long Island Region webpage at parks.ny.gov. Drop-Box locations will be available at the following State Park Offices during normal business hours.

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE BEACH VEHICLE SURFING/WINDSURFING PERMIT – only sold January 1– March 31 and the Tuesday after Labor Day-December 31.

Requirements: Valid vehicle registration and driver’s license. Must be 18 years of age or older to purchase.
Permit is ONLY valid for daylight Surfing and Windsurfing at:
• Hither Hills and Napeague (Year-round)
• Montauk Point – January 1 – March 31 only
• Robert Moses (Democrat Point and Gilgo) – January 1 – December 31, hours vary & Fields 3 & 4 from September 15-December 31
STARGAZING PERMIT – only sold January 1–March 31 and the Tuesday after Labor Day-December 31.
