This past weekend, Suffolk County Legislator Nick Caracappa (Selden) was busy honoring heroes and helping constituents in the battle against COVID-19.
On Saturday evening, Legislator Caracappa attended the Ronkonkoma Fire Department’s Annual Installation Dinner. The dinner was a celebration of the milestones and achievements of many of the Department’s members, and Legislator Caracappa was on hand to present Certificates of Recognition to each recipient.
“It was an honor and pleasure to attend the Ronkonkoma Fire Department’s Installation Ceremonies,” stated Legislator Caracappa. “Congratulations to all those assuming leadership roles within the department, as well as those exiting the officer ranks. I appreciate all volunteer firefighters for the valuable and critical services they provide our community!
Sunday brought the Legislator to the district office of New York Assembly member Doug Smith in Holbrook, who hosted a drive-through event to hand out PPE equipment to residents. “What a great turnout today in Holbrook as I joined my fellow Elected Officials in distributing Covid Home Tests and KN95 Masks out to residents. One thousand test kits (2000 tests) and 2000 masks were handed out to those who came by to receive them free of charge, while supplies lasted,” Caracappa commented. “Thank you to NYS Assemblyman Doug Smith and Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo for hosting this event and to NYS Assemblyman Joe DeStefano, fellow Suffolk County Legislator Dominick Thorne, Brookhaven Town Councilmen Kevin LaValle and Neil Foley for braving the frigid temperatures to help our constituents who needed these test kits. As we receive more, we will be reaching out to the public via social media for additional distribution sites.”
