Legislator Kennedy Welcomes The Launch Of The Canoe And Kayak Storage Pilot Program

County Officials from all over Suffolk County joined Legislator Leslie Kennedy in welcoming the launch of the Canoe and Kayak Storage Pilot Program on Monday 17, 2021.

The Canoe and Kayak Storage Pilot Program will give residents a way to store their canoes and kayaks beginning this summer. The Launch of this program is first available at Blydenburgh County Park in Hauppauge but will be available to residents in six county parks and beaches in Suffolk County. The storage rack material was donated from the Suffolk County Alliance of Chambers and the labor was donated from the Laborers Local 66. The storage racks are currently available in Blydenburgh Park and will be available soon in Southaven County Park in Yaphank, Lake Ronkonkoma County Park in Ronkonkoma, Timber Point Golf Course in Great River, Indian Island County Park in Riverhead, and Smith Point County Marina in Shirley. Suffolk County residents who have their Suffolk County Parks Green Key Card can reserve a spot for $100 and nonresidents can reserve them for $250. This bill was modeled after a program in the Town of Huntington and sponsored by Legislator Susan Berland and Co-Sponsored by Legislator Leslie Kennedy.
