To help young students begin the 2023-24 school year on the right foot, Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D – Westbury), the Town of North Hempstead and Councilman Robert Troiano partnered with the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) to present “The Road to Success” back-to-school events at Westbury’s Martin ‘Bunky’ Reid Park on Saturday, Aug. 19.
Nearly 800 students received free backpacks during the event. Youngsters also received ice cream from trucks sponsored by the Town of North Hempstead, pizza provided by the PBA, and had the opportunity to take part in activities like tug-of-war, potato sack races, bouncy attractions, and more. The hundreds in attendance were also treated to a special helicopter flyover by the Nassau County Police Department Aviation unit.
This year’s Road to Success back-to-school celebration was presented with support from the Nassau County Detectives Association (DAI), Nassau County Superior Officers Association (SOA), Nassau County Police Department Foundation and additional community partners.
“Through the generosity of the Nassau PBA and an array of wonderful community partners, we have equipped hundreds of young scholars with back-to-school essentials and encouraged their excitement for a new year of learning and growth,” Legislator Bynoe said. “We wish all of Nassau County’s students a successful and blessed school year filled with great achievements and enlightening new experiences.”
