Elwood-John H. Glenn High School recently put on an ambitious musical production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” directed by Brittany Wheeler with contributions from many faculty and staff members, in three exciting performances. Debuting in 1982, the Alan Menken and Howard Ashman musical was based on the 1960 film of the same name, and its unique blend of horror, comedy and rock and roll provided a colorful template for the high school theater students to shine.
The energetic Elwood cast included Quinneus Hines as Seymour Krelborn, Mairead Camas as Audrey, Joseph Bahr as Mr. Mushnik, Melina Neofitos as Chiffon, Briana Ebinger as Crystal, Eva Musgrove as Ronnette, Nolan Reinhardt as Orin Scrivello and Colby Knorr as the voice of Audrey II.
“Not only is it my first year at John Glenn, but it was also my first time directing a musical,” Wheeler said. “As a self-proclaimed ‘theater nerd,’ it was an absolute blast getting to work with these talented students on such a fun and challenging show.”
