Combating bullying was the focus of a recent two-day program at Grundy Avenue Elementary School in the Sachem Central School District as fourth and fifth grade students attended the Steer Clear of Bullies program presented by Child Abuse Prevention Services.
During the activities, students shared their feelings and practiced identifying expressions associated with specific feelings. Additionally, students went over the ways that feelings are shown, such as physical, verbal and situational, and learned the signs of cyberbullying and strategies to avoid those situations.
As the program concluded, students were encouraged to be good friends, classmates and family members and always spread kindness.
