P.J. Gelinas Junior High School students recently placed fourth in the 2023-2024 Suffolk County MoMathlon. The team, made up of eighth graders Victoria Chen, Bella Li, Valentina Trajkovic, Terrence Wang, Tony Xu and coached by Mr. Stanley Hanscom and Mr. Luke Mischo, competed alongside several other districts on Long Island in an individual round, group round and mix-up round of challenging mathematics questions.
P.J. Gelinas Junior High School placed fourth in the Suffolk County MoMathlon, a tournament where middle schools across Long Island compete to answer challenging mathematics questions.
The MoMathlon takes place during one school day and gives students the opportunity to compete in a unique tournament. Not only do students grow their mathematical skills through engaging challenges, they also make new friends from other schools and socialize with their peers.
