Town of Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim and New York State Senator Mario R. Mattera have teamed up for the second year in a row to present a free baseball and softball clinic for male and female youths at Daniel J. Flynn Memorial Park. On Sunday, August 27th, children ages 6-18 are invited to hone their craft with former Major League Baseball stars and local school coaches. The clinic runs from 10:00 AM through 1:15 PM and includes a complimentary lunch for families, participants and guests. Last year, over 750 youth participants enrolled in the clinic, with well over 2,100 people enjoying an unforgettable day.

Major League Baseball legends will coach and inspire youth players at various stations throughout the day. The opening ceremony will pay tribute to our American heroes on the field named in honor of Daniel J. Flynn, a member of the 725th Military Police Battalion, C Company, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War. The guest of honor this year is former Congressman Lee M. Zeldin, in celebration of his public service, non-profit endeavors, and active duty in the United States Army as a Military Intelligence Officer, Prosecutor and Military Magistrate.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the renovation of the Community Living Center courtyard at the Northport VA Medical Center.
Registration will be open to the public by the end of July.
