The annual Field of Flags event returned to Harold D. Fayette School in the North Merrick School District, bringing students, veterans and community leaders together on May 16.

Pride in community and country were on full display as the event was kicked off in the General Purpose Room of Fayette School. Along with a welcome from the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Cynthia Seniuk, and opening remarks from Board of Education President, Megan Ryan, Esq., the districtwide marching band entertained guests with a performance of “Marching Marines.” The Old Mill Road Student Council sponsored this year’s Field of Flags, the proceeds of which benefitted Tunnel to Towers. Student council members shared special comments and veterans in the American Legion Post 1282 shared commemorations.

The marching band closed out the opening ceremony with “Aspire, Achieve,” as the community honored the flags. All are welcome to enjoy the patriotic view on display in front of Fayette School.
