Fifth graders at East Islip’s John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School were contestants on STEAM Tank, a recent in-school spinoff of the television series “Shark Tank.” Students engineered and designed products to solve an everyday problem using the engineering design process and created pitches to present their innovations before a panel of “Shark” judges.
“Our students exhibited hard work, collaboration, determination, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to create their inventions,” teacher Carol Wilson said. “They were excited to share their products, enjoyed working together and most importantly, had fun testing their products before their big day. Congratulations to all participants, they truly did a remarkable job.”
