Demand for Its 1:1 Patient Care Drives Expansion for Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy (“Metro Physical Therapy”, www.metrophysicaltherapy.com), a leading provider of comprehensive therapy and wellness services with locations across Long Island and in Florida, is on the move again, expanding its facilities and rebranding others to reflect its  high end, spa-like facilities. Most recently, the organization announced that it has relocated its Bellmore facility to a one-story building located at 616 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore, New York in the Town of Hempstead. Metro Physical Therapy is the owner and sole occupant in the 4,000 square building, which is more than triple the size of its former Bellmore location.

According to Metro Physical Therapy CEO Michael Mayrsohn, DPT, OCS, “We have been part of the Bellmore community for over 15 years in a space we were renting at Dr. Geller’s dental practice. It was a great experience, but due to increasing patient demand and physician referrals, we needed a larger space. We also wanted to build on our own brand identity in the area. Our new space affords us the opportunity to serve more patients in the Bellmore community, while also offering expanded facilities and amenities.”

Mayrsohn noted that the new location will feature an onsite heated salt water pool, turf functional training area, state-of-the-art strength equipment for post-operative care, and over 3,000 square feet of open treatment space. Metro Physical Therapy will provide its comprehensive physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as acupuncture, chiropractic, massage and aquatic therapies.  Services are provided by experienced, certified manual therapists who provide 1 to 1 therapy services for each patient to facilitate the best outcomes. There will be over 14 dedicated parking spaces and access to additional parking due to a partnership formed with the neighboring Veterans of Foreign War (VFW).

The former white brick building built in 1949, was not being maintained and required a major renovation handled by NBC Custom Homes, a general contractor specializing in commercial and high-end residential properties. Construction on the building began in the summer of 2019 and was completed the week of July 6, 2020. The renovation project was valued at $1.2 million. Plans are currently underway to renovate facilities in Greenvale, Huntington and Smithtown to better project the Metro Physical Therapy brand and accommodate more patients.

“We continue to receive a steady increase in patient referrals from area physicians who recognize the value in 1 on 1 patient care,” added Mayrsohn.  “It is a testament to the high caliber of our medical team and the emphasis we place on quality care. All treatments are performed by experienced healthcare professionals and not assistants. Our goal is to elevate the healthcare experience through a culture of caring, quality, safety, service and innovation.”
