PSEG Long Island has announced the winners of its Energy Efficiency Programs Contractor Awards. The awards were given out earlier this month at the company’s Contractor Breakfast and Awards event, which is held annually to recognize PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency partners for helping customers save money and energy.
The 17 award recipients are contractors working in the energy efficiency, heating and cooling, and lighting industries. Along with saving energy and helping the environment, their projects helped customers save a collective $53.6 million last year.
Throughout 2023, nearly 11,000 residential customers took advantage of PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency offerings, which paid out more than $33 million in rebates and incentives to customers. The savings translates into more than 137 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy savings. The 1,900 commercial customers who participated in PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency programs received more than $20 million in savings through rebates and incentives, which translates into more than 53 million kWh of energy savings.
“We are grateful to our contractor partners. Their focus on implementing our energy efficiency measures provides customers tens of millions of dollars in incentives and rebates each year, along with saving millions more through reduced electric usage,” said Michael Voltz, director of Energy Efficiency and Renewables at PSEG Long Island. “PSEG Long Island’s energy efficiency programs were created to put money back in customers’ pockets while reducing the load on the electric grid. It also translates into a cleaner and greener environment for everyone.”
Quincy Compressor of Deer Park was a “Top Performer” awardee.
“We are very happy that our energy reduction projects have not gone unnoticed by PSEG Long Island and that we were able to help as many customers as we did,” said Steve Cerbone of Quincy Compressor. “Most customers simply don’t realize how expensive compressed air energy costs are until we show them. With several different efficiency improvement options that we can utilize, what we hear most is ‘I wish I did this sooner.’ The rebates help the customers pay for the upgrades; the customers save on energy costs’ and the load on the grid is reduced. It’s a win-win-win for everybody.”
