Student-artists at Deauville Gardens East Elementary School in the Copiague School District learned a new technique during a recent lesson in Ms. McLaughlin’s art classes. As part of a lesson on the printing process, the students learned how to create jelly plate prints which uses a gelatin-based ink. Following a lesson on the tools used during the printing process, the students rolled out the ink on the plates to create different textures and lines. In a subsequent lesson, students used a second layer of ink and spring-themed stencils to create negative space on the prints.
