Connetquot High School film students Victoria Eller, Madison Fiorini and Jack Mannoia were winners in the 17th annual Locust Valley Film Festival held earlier this spring.

The annual event, hosted by the Locust Valley School District, is an opportunity for students to showcase their work in the areas of animation, comedy, commercials, documentary, drama, music video, public service announcement and trailer. There were 150 submissions and 77 of the films were selected for screening. Judges with screen credits from such works as “Spin City,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “Sex and the City” were on hand to view and critique the students’ creative projects.

In the animation category, Madison Fiorini won first place for “Calm, My Lady” and second place for “The Search for Ingenuity.” Victoria Eller also won third place in the animation category for her work titled, “Guts.” Additionally, Jack Mannoia won third place in the trailer category for “The Bohemian.”

Other works were accepted for screening and included Noah Johnson’s drama “Daredevil: Blindsided” and Jack Mannoia’s commercial “The Zeltic Radio.” Katherine Novick’s animation “Harry Potter Stop Motion Edition” and Emily Pascariello’s “Goodnight” were also screened in the animation category.

Film teacher Ross Grandin and Connetquot Director of Fine Arts and Music Vincent Malafronte congratulated the film students on this outstanding accomplishment.
