In celebration of the Dignity for All Students Act, Connetquot High School students participated in activities and attended assemblies during the week of Feb. 13-17 that reiterated the importance of inclusiveness and which supported an environment free of intimidation, taunting, harassment and bullying.
During a Teen Truth assembly, guest speaker Caleb Campbell encouraged students to “own their truth,” thus improving their mental health and helping to improve school culture. He asked students a powerful rhetorical question: “Who do you want to be?” “The most important relationship is the one with yourself,” Mr. Campbell said. “Fear is a way to grow stronger, but you have to embrace it. The more you hold your fear the stronger it becomes.”
Mr. Campbell ended his lecture by telling students that reach out for help if it is needed and to act on the side on empathy and compassion.
