Prior to the Connetquot High School softball game against visiting Lindenhurst on June 2nd , school PTA president Kim Vesting Trink presented a $500 check in support of Junior Diabetes research. Mrs. Trink explained that “… Connetquot junior Ava Boldi, who had been diagnosed with JD at the age of 5, had asked about raising funds for Junior Diabetes research. She would later design a t-shirt with the slogan ‘In the Connetquot family no one fights alone’”.
Connetquot softball coach Michelle Goodwin, her players and the school’s Civic club supported the PTA in its efforts, and arranged for a presentation prior to the game. Connetquot and Lindenhurst players wearing sky blue colored socks and ribbons symbolizing their support for those suffering from junior diabetes were part of the ceremony.
“Ava is a very special girl,” according to Mrs. Trink. “That $500 check will be presented to JDRF in Ava’s name.” Thank you to the Connetquot PTA and all those that supported its efforts.
By the way, the Connetquot HS softball team followed the presentation by winning an exciting game against Lindenhurst 7-6, scoring six runs in the bottom of the 7th inning!
